Course Description
The purpose of this course is to establish safe working practices for switching, de-energizing lines and equipment for employee protection (clearances) and placing reclosing devices on non-reclosing when energized circuits are to be worked using hot line procedures (hold orders). The course will include information on the importance of lines of communication and what to do when unanticipated events do not allow communication with Dispatch.
The course will also review this training topic from the perspectives of an Engineering Department and an Operations Department, and how these interact on a day-to-day basis in regard to Switching Procedures and Clearance and Hold Orders. Annual requirements include the review of the company procedure and an exam, or equivalent.
